When it comes to dealing with acne people can often turn to some pretty strange alternatives in an attempt to cure it.  One of the not so often discussed remedies for helping acne sufferers is herbs, although not really a ‘way out there’ alternative, it generally doesn’t get the recognition that it should.

More and more people are finding out the benefits of using herbs for their acne now that the traditional methods, normally prescriptions, are showing some nasty side effects.  Below you will find the top herbs for acne sufferers.

  1. Tea Tree Oil – This is a firm favourite and widely used in over the counter medication.  It is well known to have antibacterial properties and will help control the levels of bacteria on your skin.  Always be sure to dilute tea tree oil before putting it on your skin.
  2. Basil – This is a very powerful herb for acne sufferers.  Not only does it have an antiseptic property it is also works much deeper than that.  It is known to cleanse the blood which is what carries bacteria around your body.  Even the soil that basil is planted in becomes so pure that it can be used as an effective mud bath!
  3. Alo Gel – An antiseptic plant that can be applied to the skin with amazing results.
  4. Lavender – It also has antiseptic properties but will also help against inflammation which can be a god send for sufferers of acne.  A good herb for acne.
  5. Witch Hazel – A powerful antiseptic herb for acne.

Each of these herbs can help against the fight with acne, perhaps it’s worth you having a look next time you are looking for help with your own acne.

One of the main questions that I get all the time is “How can I prevent spots and acne?” and today I want to attempt to answer that.  This week alone I got more than 35 emails asking the same question so I am sorry if I didn’t manage to get back to everyone individually.

How To Prevent Spots & Acne

When it comes to preventing spots there is only a long term option and no short term fix I’m afraid.  I know that this isn’t what most people want to here but the simple fact is, if you want to prevent spots and acne, you need to develop and find a solution that suits you.

You can read about how to get rid of spots quick if you are suffering from one or two of them but for someone who is suffering from persistent spots you need to go for a long term treatment.

Finding a treatment that will prevent further outbreaks of spots is something that has to be done over the period of around 6 weeks to really see any effect.  Most of you know that I have my own solution for spots and acne but you will need to find one that suits you.  Why not try out our new Spot Treatment Reviews site to see if there is something there that might suit your needs?

So if you want to prevent spots and acne from arriving in the first place, you must find a solution that suits you and your skin.  Once you have that in place, you’ll find that you get less and less outbreaks and will eventually be able to prevent them from arriving in the first place.
