One of the main questions that I get all the time is “How can I prevent spots and acne?” and today I want to attempt to answer that.  This week alone I got more than 35 emails asking the same question so I am sorry if I didn’t manage to get back to everyone individually.

How To Prevent Spots & Acne

When it comes to preventing spots there is only a long term option and no short term fix I’m afraid.  I know that this isn’t what most people want to here but the simple fact is, if you want to prevent spots and acne, you need to develop and find a solution that suits you.

You can read about how to get rid of spots quick if you are suffering from one or two of them but for someone who is suffering from persistent spots you need to go for a long term treatment.

So if you want to prevent spots and acne from arriving in the first place, you must find a solution that suits you and your skin.  Once you have that in place, you’ll find that you get less and less outbreaks and will eventually be able to prevent them from arriving in the first place.

[Ask Emma] Can Acne Be Passed On?

I got an email this morning asking me if Acne or Spots can be passed on to other people.  The emailer was concerned that she was going to catch acne from her brother after she used the same towel as he did.

Just to be clear on this, acne and spots are one of the most common problems that affect a large number of people every year.  Acne is not like other problems such as ‘ringworm’ where the problem can be passed on by touch.  Acne has none of the transferable traits and is not something that you will pass on or catch from someone else.

There is no need to run and hide when you see someone with acne coming, the chances are that they are already feeling pretty low and if we have people starting to scream like mad when they see them – it’s more than likely going to make them feel worse!

So in short – no you cannot catch acne from anyone else, nor can you pass acne on.
